Candi's Swamp Hop · De-Evolution Studios · Effective October 22, 2026
In short:
  • You can play without an account. Your scores, settings and purchases are saved on your own device.
  • If you choose to join the world leaderboard, you sign in with your email, Google or Apple. We store your email (to sign you in), the display name you pick, your outfit and your best scores. Your display name and scores are shown publicly.
  • In the iPhone and Android apps, ads (only when you choose to watch one) are provided by Google AdMob, and purchases are handled by the App Store or Google Play.
  • The iPhone and Android apps send anonymous gameplay statistics and crash reports to Google (Firebase) so we can improve the game. These aren't linked to your name.
  • We don't sell your information.

Who we are

Candi's Swamp Hop ("the game") is made by De-Evolution Studios ("we", "us"). This policy covers the game on iPhone, Android and the web version at candi-d3lg.onrender.com. If you have any questions, email contact@deevolutionstudios.com.

Information saved on your device

The game saves the following on your device so it can remember your progress: your best score, games played, moss landings, sound and vibration settings, whether you've seen the tips, which outfit and stumps you've chosen, and which items you own. This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we can't see it.

The web version also stores the game's files in your browser so you can play offline.

The world leaderboard (optional)

Anyone can view the leaderboard. To put your name on it you sign in, then choose a display name. You can sign in in one of these ways:

  • Email: we email you a one-time code.
  • Google: Google confirms who you are and shares your email address and name with us. We keep only your email address; we don't get your password or anything else from your Google account. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Apple: Apple confirms who you are and shares your email address, or a private relay address if you choose "Hide My Email". We keep only that address. See Apple's privacy policy.

We then store:

  • your email address (from the email code, Google or Apple), used only to sign you in (we never show it or send you marketing);
  • your display name, the outfit you wear, your best score this week and of all time, and when you set them;
  • the number of hops, moss landings and seconds in each submitted run, used only to reject impossible scores.

Your display name, outfit and scores are public on the leaderboard. Names that are rude or that copy someone else may be removed. This information is stored by our provider, Supabase (see the Supabase privacy policy). To delete your leaderboard account and everything in it, email us from the address you signed in with and we'll remove it.

Other information

Apart from the optional leaderboard, we don't run servers for the game or our own analytics, and we don't collect personal information ourselves (game statistics go only to Google Analytics for Firebase, described below). We don't use Google or Apple sign-in for anything except signing you in to the leaderboard.

The web version is hosted by Render. Like any website host, Render may keep standard technical logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and secure the service. See Render's privacy policy.

Game statistics and crash reports (Google Firebase)

To learn how the game is played and what to improve, the iPhone and Android apps use Google Analytics for Firebase. It receives:

  • a random ID for this installation of the app (and, on Android, your device's advertising ID where your consent choices allow it);
  • what you do in the game: which screens you open, when a run starts and how it ends (score, hops, moss landings, what made Candi fall), the tips you finish, the outfit and stumps you use, which floatie ads you are offered and watch, which packs you buy, and whether you sign in to the leaderboard (not who you are);
  • device and app information, such as device model, operating system, app version, language and approximate location (country or region, from your IP address);
  • when you first open the app, how long you play and how often you come back.

If the app crashes or runs into an error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report: what went wrong, the app version, device model and operating system, and the last few screens you were on, so we can fix it.

We see these as totals and trends in Google's Firebase console, not as a record of a named person: we don't send your name, email or leaderboard name. Google processes this data for us under the Firebase data processing terms and the Google Privacy Policy, and keeps the detailed records for a limited time before deleting them. Where the law asks for consent (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), statistics and ad measurement follow the choice you make when the app asks. The web version sends no statistics.

Ads (iPhone and Android apps)

The apps offer an optional "second chance": after you fall, you can choose to watch a short video ad to keep playing. There are no other ads. These ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect information from your device, such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location, device type and information about how you interact with ads. Google may use this to show ads based on your interests where the law allows it.

  • Where required (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before ads are personalised, and you can change your choice at any time.
  • On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
  • On iPhone, the app doesn't ask to track you, so your device's advertising identifier isn't shared with AdMob; you can also limit ad personalisation in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
  • Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

The web version shows a pretend ad made by us. It collects nothing.

Purchases

In-app purchases (the Halloween Pack and the Sweet Supporter Pack) are processed by Google Play or the App Store under their own privacy policies. We never see your payment details. To unlock what you bought on every device you play on, our provider RevenueCat keeps your purchase history (which packs you bought and when) linked to an anonymous ID, or to your leaderboard account if you sign in, along with basic device information. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Device permissions

The Android app uses internet access (for ads and purchases), vibration (for the optional haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Settings), Google Play billing, and the advertising ID (for ads, as described above). The iPhone app uses internet access and App Store purchases, and asks for no other permissions.

Children

The game is intended for players aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we'll help.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • Uninstalling the app, or clearing the game's data in your device or browser settings, deletes everything the game saved on your device.
  • To delete your leaderboard account, email contact@deevolutionstudios.com from the address you signed in with, and we'll remove your name, email, scores and purchase history link within 30 days. Your packs stay unlocked on the device you bought them on.
  • In the game, Settings → "Reset best score" clears your best score.
  • For information held by Google (ads or purchases), use your Google account settings or the links above.
  • Game statistics and crash reports aren't linked to your name and are deleted by Google after a limited time; uninstalling the app stops them, and if you email us we'll ask Google to delete the statistics from your installation.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the game handles information, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
